Ice + Georgetown Pike = Power Loss
Feb. 12th, 2008 05:55 pmYep, brought to you by those same clowns who say that burying the lines won't help, the icy conditions combined with the idiots who drive like douchebags on Georgetown Pike has inevitably caused our power to start hiccupping yet again. And this time it went down just long enough to reset everything 2x.
Usually what happens is someone spins out at the intersection of Georgetown Pike and 193 and takes out the pole with our transformer on it. Seems this was just enough to bump it.
When there's LOTS of ice, it takes down so many power lines that the outages are more widespread.
Course on Sunday the wind was so high it took a tree down across 193, causing a massive outage in McLean.
But burying the lines just wouldn't help at all, at all. Right....
