Still packing
Oct. 5th, 2007 11:48 amStill being lazy... still not feeling the best...and still packing. Pack pack pack. Never knew there was just so much to pack. Luckily, most of the clothes are really small summer things that are easy to pack and squish into every available space in the huge dive bag from hell. I hope I have a 3ml wet suit somewhere cuz the water is really warm. Mask, regulator, dive computer, fins, booties, hair ties, bathing suits for dive gear. Shorts and t shirts, undies and sandals for clothes with maybe one nice dress to go out in. Hats, sunglasses, toiletries (cuz I can't get them in Bonaire easily) and bug spray (all you can get there is high concentrations of DEET). Computer, spare drive, ipod, chargers, video camera, underwater housing and all its pieces, cables, extra tapes, extra batteries, yet more cables, yet more chargers, various media shuttles, and maybe a BOOK, my dive certification cards (that I forget every year and they have to look it up by my PADI instructor number) and that should be the lot. Think that's enough? :-).
Now that I have it all listed, maybe I can actually figure out ways to properly divide things, knowing full well that Air Jamaica might strand us in Montego Bay for a day, so I'll need a change of clothing. Also knowing full well that Air Jamaica will give me grief about carry ons and weight of bags and all of that, I will have to be relatively careful to balance things well. Oh, and I guess I have to bring a set of handcuff keys in case I happen to get angry at airline personnel for treating us like cattle.
Our flight leaves at 8:30 AM out of BWI, which means getting up way early and getting there 2 hours in advance so that we can actually check in. Car logistics will be interesting. House sitter arrives tonight for "taking care of animals" boot camp.
And now, with all that, I begin to gather my crap and think about all these crazy things. Wish me luck :-).
