First Vacation Day...
Oct. 7th, 2007 05:28 pmOh what fun! I awoke to my fishie tank controller complaining that the temperature had gone wonky overnight, and sent an email to Kerri the house sitter to find out what was up. Seems that the breaker
dogpooh promised to replace before he left popped and shut down all functionality to the reef tank. Luckily, Kerri is smart and figured out where the breaker was and reset it so the tank was only messed up for a short time. However, another tank was going insane because
dogpooh forgot to switch on the automatic tank top off and the level went way too low, causing a small catastrophe that will hopefully be resolved soon. The tank level was so low that the filter motor burned out. We talked her through replacing the filter with another one lying around, and all was well with THAT small nightmare.
For our next trick, we got our stuff together and went down for our first dive in over a year. Hooray! We got all the dive equipment ready, tromped on down to the dive lockers, put the stuff together and *splash* into the water we went. Almost immediately, my stomach began acting up again, so I surfaced and stayed up for a bit, coaxing tummy to become more normal. Upon re-submerging, it promised to be good, and off we went for a 75 minute dive to a max depth of 65 feet at our old friend, the dive site off of Habitat. Thank goodness it hasn't changed very much and is still as gorgeous as ever. I posted a short video on YouTube (search for "ooblick" and you will find my stuff) that you can watch when it's finally done processing and becomes ready for human perusal. Granted, it's not the greatest video ever made, but I did ok, with buoyancy and control adjusting itself back to normal levels.
Become part of the food chain - go diving :-).
