After tearing myself from the iPhone....
Jun. 30th, 2007 09:07 amLast night I went to the CCB for the first time to go dancing. Once I actually found the place, things were pretty good. They have some semblance of air conditioning, some pretty powerful fans, and lots of cold water available for sale. All these things were good. The band, on the other hand..... well..... uh..... it kinda means something when the breaks had better music than the band.
Despite the band, I had a great time dancing with tons of different people, beginning to learn how to adapt and keep resistance. I suppose that if this were easy, everyone would be doing it :-). I learned to follow a whole load of new things through a bunch of experienced leaders (several of them teachers who were very patient with newbies). If you ever get the chance to dance with
badmagic do so. He dances like a madman :-).
I did pretty well keeping up with things despite the heat (AC never really works well upstairs with a room full of sweaty dancers). I think I did just about every other dance on average, and only attempted to die after one very LONG set that didn't end. The aforementioned
badmagic was so very sweet and got me water and made sure I wasn't going to depart this plane of existence.
So this morning I woke up. This is a good start. I tried to get out of bed. This was not such a good start. It seems that every muscle and joint in my poor little body has some kind of major complaint. So in typical recalcitrant form, I am filling myself with caffeine and advil before heading up to fight practice. Then perhaps a hot soak before running off (or perhaps crawling off) to a dance at Glen Echo where the recalcitrant husband promised to go.
dukeostuff also claims to be going, as does
vvalkyri. The Deeple still hasn't perfected his triple step, so he will stay home to practice.
And of course, every other spare moment will be spent playing with the iPhone. w00t!!!
